Les Miserables is historically known as being the first musical to feature fully programmed synthesizers, specifically the Yamaha DX7 using FM synthesis. When the show was reorchestrated in 2010, it was brought from 3 DX7 books to 2 sample-based keyboards, keeping several of the original DX7 samples. Evan Barrett Keyboards provides programming containing patches using samples of the original DX7 patches from the 1985 John Cameron orchestration (sampled using original .sysex files in Dexed).
